Kunst10Daagse

the blooming gallery

At blooming hotel, we are excited about the Kunst10Daagse (K10D), a special event where more than 300 artists showcase their works at around 160 different locations in the lush artists' village of Bergen and the coastal town of Bergen aan Zee in North Holland. Traditionally, this cultural festival takes place in the month of October. Once again this year, blooming will open its doors as a gallery during this wonderful month, giving (new) artists a platform. The Kunst10Daagse runs from October 18 to October 27.

At blooming, we want to give artists from Bergen and the surrounding area the space to grow and share. That’s why this year we are opening the blooming gallery, where renowned artists from Bergen will co-exhibit with (recommended by them) new talent. In this way, we provide the renowned artists from Bergen with a place to showcase their latest work, while also creating a platform for emerging talent. Through collaboration with established artists, we offer new talents the first resources they need to present their work to the world.

Diana van Dijk

Photography & concept development

Diana van Dijk, photographer and artist, will exhibit her works in the gallery of hotel blooming starting October 1. Her creative journey began in fashion, where she studied at the Artemis Academy and developed a passion for photography and concept development. Over thirteen years ago, she started her own business and developed a distinctive style.

In her current work, Diana combines abstract photography, conceptual thinking, and video art, always revealing a deeper layer. The artworks in Gallery blooming are inspired by the interplay between strength and silence, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface.

Diana’s mission is to create art that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also has a lasting impact. Her commercial work is characterized by an artistic approach and creative elements that provoke thought. During the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to experience this depth for themselves.

Mieke van Gijzel

Paintings

Mieke van Gijzel was born in Amsterdam in 1954, where the canals served as her first source of inspiration. In the vibrant 1970s, after attending the drawing academy, Mieke van Gijzel began her career as a fashion designer. During that time, when freedom and expression flourished, Mieke discovered her passion: making people shine during the moments that matter most, whether it was a wedding, a first major business presentation, or the celebration of a personal milestone. Over the years, Mieke stood beside many during their most important moments, with her creations as silent witnesses to success and perseverance.

With passion and resilience (or “positively obsessed”), she built her career while navigating the challenges of the fashion world. Her designs were never just garments; they were meant to support the stories of hard-working people. Mieke’s love for design is evident in everything she creates. In 2019, she decided to pick up the brush again, beautifully capturing her appreciation for the dedication and commitment behind hard work in her artworks.

Juliëtte van den Dool – van Hierden

Objects

Juliëtte van den Dool – van Hierden is a teacher of Visual Arts and Design and has been teaching at various high schools for many years. Her goal is to pass on her passion for craftsmanship to her students. In her own time, she enjoys practicing crafts such as sculpting, silversmithing, and wool felting.

Explanation of the work:
“Soft Clouds” are made from Dutch sheep’s wool from Valais Blacknose sheep. The works were created through a process of cutting, cleaning, partial carding, and both wet and dry felting the wool. The softness radiates from them.
